GCF Prayer Meeting

Mondays, 5:15pm, Evening Prayer at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church

In Summer 2010 we began a new prayer meeting format following the Evening Prayer service in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer with music from the Taizé Community. This is an enriching service of contemplative music, scripture reading, and traditional prayers that Christians have been using for centuries.  We also share joys and concerns in one another's lives and have extemporaneous prayer for each other and the community.

Vision for Prayer in GCF

GCFThe goal of the GCF campus prayer meetings is to provide a place where busy grad students can regularly meet during the day to seek God; give and receive encouragement; intercede on behalf of our friends, the campus, and the world; and be aware of the workings of the Spirit.  We believe that corporate prayer is a necessary part of a mature and effective Christian life, and indispensable to the proper functioning of the Body of Christ.

Our vision for GCF prayer is threefold:  Firstly, we pray because we want to be a fellowship that is powerful in prayer, that is equipped to take a stand "against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Eph 6:12).  Secondly, we pray together so that we might be a fellowship whose members love and support each other, suffering together and rejoicing together (Rom 12:26).  And last but not least, we pray consistently in order that we remain a fellowship that constantly relies on God, listens for God, and acknowledges its need for God.
