This semester the Thursday small group will investigate what the apostle Paul said is “the gospel.”

Too often today Christians use the word “gospel” in ways that are very foreign to what Paul taught was the gospel. We will look at what Paul said is the only gospel in his various letters. And further, we will see how Paul can even help us better understand the four Gospels by teaching us the Jesus Story as Christ told it to him.

We will learn how the Jesus Story is the message that Paul spread throughout the Roman Empire.

Along the way we will ask how the gospel is shaping our lives as well as how we can better communicate the good news of Jesus Christ to those who have yet to believe.

We’re not interested in just getting biblical information, but we want to grow deeper as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. We will not only re-learn the Jesus Story but also see where we are called to be followers of Christ now in God’s purposes for the world. All the issues of discipleship take place now in our part in the Jesus Story.

David Suryk will lead our small group. David is fresh off a six-month sabbatical with InterVarsity where he did research on the gospel and evangelism.

We will meet Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm and David’s house in west Champaign (1907 Rugby Road).

His phone number is 217-359-3231.
Send David an email to let him know you are coming and if you NEED a ride or CAN PROVIDE A RIDE. Give him your phone number as well.
