Fall semester 2010 we looked at Christianity Through the Eyes Of Paul. We watched Jesus's encounter with two Pharisees: Nicodemus and Saul (who became the Apostle Paul). We saw that Jesus challenged their understanding of what it meant to be Israel. We saw how Saul, who breathed murderous threats against Jesus and his church encounter the risen Lord Jesus Christ. The first thing he did after he had been blinded for three days was to get baptized, then he took water and food and regained his strength. Saul rehearsed the story of Israel and came to see that Jesus had come to be Israel's king, and therefore the world's true Lord. We then read Paul's letter to the Ephesians to better understand what Paul considered is the gospel and what it means to follow Christ the Lord as members together (and of one another) of his Church in the world.
Spring semester 2011 we will look at various passages of the Bible that our members would like us to study together. This will be a time to step up and take turns leading the study as members are willing and able. David will be on an InterVarsity sabbatical February 7 through August 7 and so small group leadership must come from within the group. What a great way to serve one another! I think the Apostle Paul would be eager to see this happen.
